Hymn (My Offering)

by K L Dennis

/

about

A simple tune that was very hard to get right. About my relationship with music, God and my wife.

lyrics

Hymn (My Offering) 2015/`8

I sing alone and I sing for you and me
I sing for love and for sacred mysteries
I’ve always had this yearning down inside my soul
I’ve always had these stories waiting to be told
And how could I have known how much I’d love you?
Or how long and strange this road would prove?
I’m not here to try to fix every heart we broke
I can only speak the truth with art and these few notes

Bridge:
David wrote his psalms to the God he could not see
Sebastian Bach and Handel bowed to his majesty
And with my humble poetry I make my offering

I’m told there is a perfect harmony
And a secret chord that haunts eternity
If I could not hear a sound I would still try to listen
If the music stopped today I would still beat the rhythm
Life can be like a melody often heard
You know the tune but can’t quite catch the words
But if you read between the lines you’ll see it in the end
All my songs are to you and Him, hallelujah and amen
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah hallelujah and amen

about

K L Dennis Los Angeles, California

I write songs about things that matter to a man who wakes up in an increasingly strange world, and then turns that into songs. I started with five chords and the truth; now I have a few more chords. Still going for truth. ... more
